Delfryn Publications began in 2009 when Cathy Woodhead decided to publish her mother’s articles about sailing in the 1950s in the family’s 22ft sailing boat. This was 'Puffin’s Log' by Jocelyn Greenway. She then put many of her father’s delightful sketches of their travels in 'The Sketchbook' and some of Jocelyn’s other articles became 'Where the Sun Shines Brightly'. In 2011 Cathy began a book partnership with local amateur historian, Richard Walwyn, who had the outline for a history of the village, Borth-y-Gest. With Cathy’s encouragement this became the local bestseller 'A Little History of Borth-y-Gest'. In his library Richard had an English translation of 'Y Gestiana', a veritable tome on the local area written in Welsh in the 1800s and long out of print, so 'The Gestiana' was published by Delfryn Publications.
These two books set the theme for Delfryn Publications, which now focuses on local history and interests. However, Cathy has expanded her own skills by writing the true story of a local sea faring family in 'The Loss of the Criccieth Castle'. The wide range of books is described by clicking the titles below and the books can be obtained here on line or in local bookshops in Gwynedd.
